Cowper's Drawers

These documents, written by Charles Longuet Higgins and others tell the story of how the poet Cowper’s chest of drawers came into the possession of Charles. The drawers are mentioned in Cowper’s poem ‘The Returned Cat’. The document consists of copies of letters sent to various people and the outcome from such letters.
The drawers moved with the Longuet Higgins from Turvey Abbey to Vine Cottage and then in 1952 they could be found at 417 Banbury Road.
