The Leverian Sale
This four page, anonymous document explores how certain objects were purchased and found their way to the British Museum.
It appears that “Mrs Higgins” bid successfully for a number of items at the Leverian Sale in 1904. These were added to the substantial collection of Charles Longuet Higgins who had inherited a large collection from his father, John Higgins.
The note records Charles Longuet Higgins idea the establishment of Local History Museums. It appears that Charles donated a large number of pieces to the British Museum which were later added to by articles from the Leverian Sale.
