Village Horticultural Creativity

Beyond the extensive gardens and parkland of Turvey Abbey and Turvey House, other people in Turvey have expressed creativity through the world of plants. In the 19th century there was a Horticultural Society and in 1875 it held its first flower show which was to become an annual event lasting into the 20th century. In more recent years the Turvey Gardening Club and Turvey Bloomers were established. The daffodils though the village and the community orchard are the lasting legacies of their creative ideas.

The Midsummer Festival

In 2009, the Midsummer Festival held in All Saints Church was the setting for a wide range of creative displays using plants, with over 20 Turvey organisations and many individuals taking part.
