Higgins Bedford Art Gallery & Museum Collection
The Higgins Art Gallery and Museum have kindly given their permission for the images of 8 water colour paintings and one pencil drawing to be placed in the digital archives of Turvey History Society.
The paintings and drawing are by Bradford Rudge (1813-1885) who was born in Coventry and in 1837 moved to Bedford where he became the first Drawing Master to the Harpur School.
Whilst it is not possible to identify all the buildings, the Three Fishes Public House and The Chequers (Three Cranes) are clearly identifiable.
None of the pictures are currently on display at the Museum.
